Steve Mollmann was born in 1985, and, he has lived in Colerain Township since he was five. Colerain is a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, best known for possessing a large garbage dump and a terrible main street, but he loves it all the same. He has been a Star Trek fan since before he can remember, for which he blames his mother, but he has to admit it's probably led to some good things.

In 2007, he graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, with degrees in both literature and adolescent English education. He is presently employed as a document control clerk for a colorants manufacturing corporation, a job which makes massive use of his college education.

Michael Schuster lives in Europe - in the Austrian province of Tyrol, to be precise - and believes himself to be only the second nonnative speaker of English to write a Star Trek story after Jesco von Puttkamer. His love for science fiction in general and Star Trek in particular began somewhere around his twelfth birthday. While he always wanted to be one of the authors of such adventures, he never really believed he would eventually become one.

A graduate of the University of Salzburg, Michael now works in a bank while using his spare time to concentrate on creative work such as writing, drawing, and graphic design.

Steve and Michael first became friends in 2004, when they collaborated in the carrying out of the 2003 Psi Phi Awards for Star Trek Books, though they had casually known each other through their interactions on websites such as Psi Phi and TrekBBS for years before that. It was during the Awards work that Michael first asked Steve to collaborate with him on a number of pitches for the Star Trek: S.C.E. line of eBooks.

Of their many pitches, one of them, titled The Future Begins and featuring Scotty, was eventually accepted by series editor Keith R.A. DeCandido and made part of the What’s Past miniseries celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Trek; it was released in March 2006. It was not until July of that year that the two finally met, however, when Michael visited the United States to attend to Shore Leave convention in Baltimore. This had the unfortunate side effect of forcing them to remove the “they have never met” joke from their “About the Authors” blurb.

They continue to work together on a number of projects.
